Tim Anderson. Whatley also proudly announces the return of The Minuteman Marching Band to New York City for the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. On behalf of himself and the Macy's Parade Band Committee, he extends a warm welcome to the band. The announcement about the band's participation in the parade was made during halftime at the UMass vs. Toledo football game in Amherst. To show their support, a check for $10,000 was presented to help the band kick off their fundraising efforts for this esteemed honor. The school issued a statement expressing their belief that this honor is well-deserved.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a beloved annual event that began in 1924, has become an important tradition. The Minuteman Marching Band had the privilege of participating in this grand performance in 2013, and they cherish the memories from that experience. In 2013, drum major Jake Balcanoff shared his awe and excitement about the parade. He described it as an amazing and unbelievable experience. Time flew by quickly, and he was mesmerized by everything he witnessed. Being a part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a truly remarkable and cool opportunity for him.
